ISO 9001 has been synonymous to quality and customer satisfaction for the last 20 years. So obviously
a revision to such a standard has been one of the most widely anticipated in the compliance and
quality circles within the industry, over the recent months. Speculation about the revision in the PDCA
model and a slant towards risk-based approach has got businesses more interested in the
major developments.
When the last update made was in 2008 it brought about the change in mindset by redefining
customer satisfaction to stakeholder satisfaction.
What will the 2015 standard hold for the industry?
While the final standard is not expected to be published till mid next year, the draft international standard
has already been published for comments - and usually at this stage there is significant
insights into what the standard has in store!
